Food Float wouldn’t exist without its wonderful pool of volunteers. We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company – run by the community for the community. We have a great deal of support for what we do.
- We need volunteers to staff the stall on Saturday mornings (and sometimes also on Fridays). There are two Saturday shifts: 8-11am and 11-2pm. Most volunteers commit to doing one shift a month, but you can do more or less. It’s huge fun and gives you a chance to meet local people.
- We can offer community volunteering experience as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award. You need to be over 15, good with customers and confident with handling cash (if 16 or over). We are happy to provide training and references in return.
- We also welcome drivers for our Thursday home delivery service.

A volunteer’s viewpoint:
Nicole Lau has been volunteering on Food Float after moving to Dorking. She says:
“I was very inspired and amazed by this community initiative as I think this is a great way to promote local foods and support local producers. Also the fact that it is run by volunteers! This shows good things don’t need to cost money but can be powered by people’s goodwill.”
